The End of Existence

** This is the start of a story, the lost story that started my journey into Karnash. I hope that I will be able to find my way back there in time. I feel that this unfinished story deserves a place of honor and I hope that all who read it will see Karnash the way I do. I have a feeling that Dee/Death is like me, especially the unwillingness to keep clothes on.

She drew her weapon once again and turned to face the fast approaching threat. The Demon army stopped as they saw an odd looking creature staring at them with a chain scythe in its hands. They looked at each other questioningly, each one wondering what this creature was. She stood in a clearing covered in blood, most of which belonged to the bodies littered at her feet. She was nothing the likes of them had ever seen. She was beautiful, an exotic looking creature that did not come from this world. She was not a Demon like they were, nor was she a Lycan or a Vampire. What was she? Her long black hair flowed down her back, stopping just above her rear. Most of her looked like a Human, a race that had died out centuries before, but the rest of her was a complexity of parts from mythological beings. Like the Demon race she had a tail, but hers was the tail of a dragon. Like the Lycan race her ears were perched atop her head, but her ears were that of a tiger. Like the Vampire race she had wings, but her wings were like that of a Seraphim’s, a 6-winged angel.

She looked at the Demons facing her with a mixture of amusement and curiosity dancing in her ice blue eyes because they were afraid of her. The Demon army was 1,000 strong and each one was easily twice the size she was, but they were afraid.

A feeble voice spoke up from the mist of the army, “Dee? Is that you?” Her ears twitched as she scanned the crowd for the source of the voice who had called her by her given name.

Who in this plane of existence would know who I am, she thought to herself “Show yourself!” She said aloud in a commanding voice.

The crowd parted as an Elder Demon made his way towards the creature. Her eyes brightened and a smile appeared as she realized who had spoke to her. “Darnak, it’s great to see you again,” she said as she started walking towards the Elder.

Hold it right there!” A Demon soldier growled, “Just who do you think you are speaking to our Elder like—”.

Darnak, the Elder Demon, cut him off with a wave of his hand and a bemused look on his face. “To provoke a Guardian is foolish,” Darnak said with a chuckle, “but to provoke this Guardian would be suicide, so I suggest you keep quiet.”

She knelt in front of the Elder and placed her hand over her heart in a sign of friendship. The Elder returned her gesture, but she could see that worry clouded his eyes. “Darnak,” she started, but he stopped her in the same fashion he stopped the soldier seconds before. “I was hoping I wouldn’t have to see you again in this life time,” Darnak said quietly, “but things must be really bad if the Guardian of Death is here.”

Yes,” she said sadly, “Chaos and Destruction are here as well. I wish our meeting was under different circumstances, but we must be unleashed if this plane of existence is to remain.”

If I recall,” Darnak said with a smile on his face, “you said that when we first met.” She smiled at the thought. “Your right,” she said quietly, “I did say that and this will be the last time I will say it. If things continue like they are this existence will be destroyed by the very Guardians who are here trying to save it.”

You said that last time too.”

I know, but this time I mean it.”

He motioned for her to rise and follow him, which she did. Darnak was the only creature in all the planes of existence that did not fear her, unlike the other Demons who whined and crouched in a submissive posture as she passed. “How bad is it?” he asked quietly.

Do you want the truth?” she asked her friend.

Yes.” He said as he turned to look at the Guardian of Death who spared his life centuries before. Darnak was surprised at what he saw in the depths of the Guardian’s eyes. A single tear slid down her cheek as she led him to a fallen tree. Darnak opened his mouth to speak, but closed it quickly when she gave him a warning glare.

Just sit and listen. I will start with a story, a story you should know rather well.

Several centuries ago I was sent here as a messenger, along with Chaos and Destruction. The ongoing war was threatening to rip apart this existence so we were unleashed as messengers of Doom. We were given 3 months to find a reason to give this existence another chance, but if we could not …” she said trailing off at the end.

Is this the story of our first meeting?” Darnak asked.

Yes.”

Will you tell me the truth about my village? About my people?”

Yes.”

Why did you come to my village?”

Stop asking questions. Just sit and listen…quietly.”

Sorry,” Darnak said with a hint of embarrassment in his voice.

She smiled and shook her head, “No need. You have a right to know what happened.”

Please continue,” Darnak said quietly.

She closed her eyes and began her story again. “We ended our tour at the village of Sarka. Together we wiped out everything, or so I thought. Out of the crumbling remains of the village emerged a young Demon or Demonlet as your race calls them. This particular Demonlet was scrawny. His clothes were in tatters, and he was covered in blood.

I remember wondering how such a small creature could lose that much blood and still survive when the Demonlet saw me. He ran over to me and buried his face into my stomach, crying for his mum and dad. I wrapped my arms around him as realization began to set in. This was not his blood. This child was covered in the blood of his parents. For once in my life I could not bring myself to kill. It was one small child and I, the embodiment of death, couldn’t kill it. ‘Do you know who I am little one,’ I asked in a gentle tone. I felt the child shake his head yes against my stomach. Well this is new. ‘Are you afraid of me,’ I asked. My curiosity was growing. The child looked up at me with a lack of fear in his eyes and shook his head no. I let go of the child and knelt down in front of him. The child never took his eyes off of me; in fact he even smiled at me. He knew who I was and did not fear me. It was at that moment I felt something odd stirring within my heart.

Do you remember the rest?”

Darnak nodded his head and said nothing. He remembered now. He watched as Death came for his parents as a Demonlet and could do nothing to help them. He remembered feeling the aura rolling off of Death. It was dark and it was frightening, but her beauty made his fear bearable. At that time she became his mother and he became her reason for allowing this existence to live. He also remembered her companions, Destruction and Chaos, who were as beautiful and exotic as she was.

Chaos was just as his name stated. He was tall, a little over 6 feet in Darnak’s opinion, with broad shoulders, and a mixture of brown, blonde and red hair sticking up in a chaotic fashion. Like the rest of his race his body was mostly Human, but the rest of him was even more complex then Death’s. He was Chaos embodied so it’s no surprise that each of his body parts came from different animals. In fact, he even had two tails, which came from a fox and a serpent. One of his ears was that of a lion and the other was that of a bear. His wings were the same, one wing was that of an eagle and the other was that of a bat. His weapon of choice was an oversized claymore and only a shield to serve as his defense. His grey green eyes always held an air of chaos and constantly danced with the promise of what was to come.

Destruction looked nothing like her name. She was considered to be one of the rarest type of Guardians. She was a small Guardian, almost tiny compared to all the others. Her pixie pink hair matched her purple eyes, but if you looked closely you could see hints of her explosive nature. She was cute, calm, and soft spoken. She had the ears of an elf, the wings of a butterfly, and the tail of a rabbit. She looked like the exact opposite of her name until her full power was unleashed. Her magic served as her weapon and her shield.

They’re here,” Dee, said, pulling him out of his thoughts.

Who’s here?” Darnak asked with a look of worry on his face.

Chase and Destiny,” she said calling her companions by their given names. In her society, children had a given name and the name that they were born with. Her given name was Dee, but she was born with the name of Death. Chase was Chaos’s given name and Destiny was Destruction’s.

Who’s that?” Chase said as he landed beside her.

That’s her son idiot,” Destiny called out as she flitted from person to person.

Who are you calling an idiot?” Chase bellowed as the faery like Guardian darted past.

Knock it off you two,” Dee said with annoyance laced in her voice, “Destiny is right.”

About what?” Chase inquired.

About this being my son,” Dee said fixing him with a glare. “And about you being an idiot.” She added.
Darnak watched as the Guardians began to argue with each other playfully. He noted that the relationship between Dee and Chase had changed, but quickly dismissed it as he was pulled back into his previous thoughts. He was her son for only a short time, but that time left an impression on him. He knew what it was like to know Death and to love Death. To die by her hands would be better then dying by any other means. He remembered asking Dee a question when he was her son, but she wouldn't answer it then so he decided to try his luck again.

What would happen if you couldn’t find a reason to allow this existence to live?” Darnak asked, breaking up the Guardians argument.

The Guardians looked at each other and nodded. Dee took a deep breath and stepped forward.

If this war continues this existence will die, but if we deem it necessary to kill this existence then life could begin again.” She said looking at the demon that was once her son.

How? I don’t understand!”

I think it's time to tell him the truth,” Chase said as he walked up and laced his fingers through hers.

"I know," Dee stated, giving his hand a gentle squeeze.

She looked at Darnak and told him what she could not centuries before. “We are the Guardians of Karnash. We decide what lives and what dies, but we also give this existence the freedom it needs to support itself. When the balance of power shifts and this existence is in peril we will step in. If we decide that this existence is not worth saving then we will annihilate everything. Then this existence will be given over to the natural order of the Guardians.”

What do you mean?” Darnak asked quietly.

Once Chaos, Destruction, and Death have run their course then Life will take over and this existence will be given a fresh start.”

So what you’re saying is that the best chance this existence has would be to annihilate it?”

Yes, that is exactly what she is saying.” Destiny said while hovering in front of his eyes.

So do it!” Darnak said with conviction in his voice.

Why?” Chase asked the Elder politely.

Why not!” Darnak cried, “I would rather this existence have a chance to remain than to selfishly beg for my life.”

We agree,” said a low, rumbling voice coming from behind the Guardians.

The Guardians turned around in time to see two shapes materializing in the shadows beyond the trees. On instinct Dee and Chase raised their weapons while sparks flew from Destiny’s fingers.

Wait! I recognize that voice,” Darnak said coming up and laying a hand on Dee and Chase’s shoulder.

The Guardians relaxed and Dee stepped forward.

Show yourself!” She demanded.

As you wish my lady,” the voice said while its owner stepped out of the shadows.

A regal looking Vampire appeared and bowed low before her knowing he was standing before greatness.

I am Lord Rodderick Von Der Claus, leader of all Vampires,” the Vampire said still looking at the ground.

You do not need to bow before me.”

Thank you my lady, but it is Vampire Law to bow before a Guardian.”

As it is with us Lycans,” the second shape said as it stepped from the shadows and joined the Vampire kneeling before her.

State your name,” Dee said, her voice softening a bit.

I am Lord Dargon Aradia Lunari, leader of all Lycans,” the Lycan said respectfully.

And I am Darnak, Elder to all Demons great and small,” Darnak said now kneeling before her as well.

She looked at the three before her and smiled as recognition dawned upon the other Guardians.

Are you three sure you want to do this?”

Yes,” they said in unison.

She nodded and said, “Let us begin.”

Chaos, will you stand at my right hand?” she asked switching back to the names that they were born with.

Yes, I will stand at the right hand of Death,” Chaos said taking his place beside her.

Destruction, will you stand at my left hand?”

Yes, I will stand at the left hand of Death,” Destruction said taking her place beside her.

Elder, Lord Rodderick, and Lord Dargon you come before me actively seeking Death. Is this correct?”

Yes,” the three leaders spoke in unison again.

Will you take the responsibility of speaking for every race in this existence?”

Yes,” once again they spoke in unison.

Elder. Why have you come before me?”

To save this existence,” Darnak said quietly.

Lord Rodderick and Lord Dargon, are you two in agreement with the Elder?”

Yes we are,” the two Lords said.

So be it. I am Death, with Chaos at my right and Destruction at my left. We, the Guardians of Karnash, will completely annihilate this existence,” she said looking down at the leaders before her.

She then did something that surprised both Lords, but not Darnak. She knelt down in front of them and waited until all three faces were looking at hers.

What is done cannot be undone. Do you understand?” She asked quietly.

Yes, we do. That is why each of us searched for you,” Darnak said looking at Lord Rodderick then at Lord Dargon, each one nodding his head in agreement.

We are tired of fighting this eternal war. At the beginning there were many different races, the land was green, and food was plentiful. But now...” Lord Dargon said trailing off.

My lady,” Lord Rodderick said, “Look around and tell me what you see.”

She looked at the surrounding lands and saw many things, but it was nothing like it used to be.

Nothing,” she said at last, “I see nothing.”

Exactly! You see nothing because there is nothing left. Our world is dying and if this war keeps going then it will die,” he said.

Death,” Darnak said, shaking his head briefly, “No, that’s not right.” Darnak took the hand of the Guardian that used to be is mother.

Dee, you were once my mother. You taught me a lot of things in the brief time we were together. I know the value of life and I do not take it for granted. I knew what I wanted to do when I sensed your presence. This meeting was no coincidence. This war needs to end and you are the only beings capable of doing it.”

"I see your minds are made up," Dee stated.

"Yes," they said as one.

"So it will be done. The Ritual of Summons is now complete," she said standing.

"How long do we have?" Darnak asked.

"You three have sought me out and started the Ritual of Summons knowing that it summons the end of this existence. For your bravery I will give you three days to spend however you wish."

"Thank you my lady. I am very grateful for this, but I have a question as well." Lord Rodderick said looking up at Dee.

"What is it?"

"What will the end be like? What will happen to this world? What was a great Guardian like you doing playing mother to a Demon?"

"That was three," she said with a wry smile, "but I will answer them. The end will be nothing."

Lord Dargon opened his mouth to question her, but Darnak stopped him with a wave of his hand.

"It is best to let her finish," Darnak said. "Trust me on this," he added with a smile.

"Thank you Darnak. As I was saying, the end will be nothing. This existence and everything in it will just cease to exist. The moment before it happens you will be filled with peace. For Guardians that come from the side of darkness, our ending is very peaceful.

Once everything is gone the Guardian of Life will come and recreate this existence. The Guardian of Life will restore everything to how it was at the first creation, but this time new laws will be created in order to prevent this from happening again.

Does that answer your questions?”

Lord Dargon looked at her and stated, “You have only answered two questions.”

I know. I will let Darnak answer the third question if you really want to know,” she said looking at Darnak questioningly.

Darnak nodded his head and retold the story that Dee had just told him.

"Dee, can I speak to you a minute?" Chase asked, motioning her over to where he was standing.

"What is it?" She inquired walking away from the others.

"Do you always have to have things your way?"

"Yes I do! I am not going to govern this existence with out knowing the citizens of it. You know this and yet you still follow me!" She exclaimed, twitching her wings in agitation.

"Calm down. If I didn't believe in what you were doing then I wouldn't be by your side."

"I know," she said calming a little, "I'm tired of the other Guardians questioning my authority.... especially when they have no say in how this existence is governed. I think the creatures of this existence should have at least some say. That's why I created the Ritual of Summons in the first place."

Destiny flew up beside her, "Don't worry Dee. We support you and will stand behind you because we believe the same things you do."

Dee breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you! That means a lot to hear you say that."

"We have a question." Darnak said as the three leaders walked up behind them.

"What is it?" Dee questioned turning around to face them.

Lord Dargon looked down sheepishly. "Well it's more like we need you to settle an argument for us."

"Okay..." she said, her curiosity growing.

"How did this war start?" Lord Rodderick asked, "We each have our own opinions, but the only thing we've agreed upon so far is that we are either not old enough to know or we are too old to remember."

She looked at the three leaders before her trying to be serious, but she couldn't hold it in any longer.

"Alright. I'll help you out." She said through burst of laughter.

She took a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm down. Once she did she motioned for everyone to sit on the dying grass. Dee and Chase folded their wings and sat side by side while Destiny floated in the air between them. The leaders then followed their example and completed the circle.

"When this existence was first created the Guardian in charge forgot to create a counsel. There were no rules, no ruling body, and no peace. Soon the different races began to argue about who deserved to rule and war broke out. Angels were fighting Demons, Vampires were fighting Lycans, Faeries were fighting Dwarfs, and Humans were fighting Elves. By the time we were sent here as messengers almost everything had been destroyed. The land was nearly barren and the only races left were you three and the Elves."

"So you're saying that we were destroying this existence in the name of pride?" Lord Rodderick asked quietly.

"I'm afraid so," she replied.

"When were you put in charge of this existence?" Lord Dargon asked cautiously.

With a grin she told him, "I wasn't the one in charge during the first creation if that's what you were wondering."

Lord Dargon shifted and mumbled dejectedly, "That's not.... I mean.....ummmm....I'm sorry."

"It's okay," she said touching his hand gently.

They looked at each other uncomfortably waiting on someone to speak, but it was Darnak who finally broke the silence.

"So when were you put in charge?" he asked, eager to get conversation going again.

She smiled gratefully at Darnak. "Right after our last appearance here. It was punishment for not following orders. I was also punished for breaking the rules. At the time that punishment seemed harsher than the other."

"What was it?" Destiny asked curiously.

At this Chase snorted back a laugh because he knew what her answer would be. Destiny tossed him a curious glance, but quickly turned her attention back to Dee.

"Well if you really must know my punishment was to mate with him," she said looking over at Chase as he doubled over with laughter.

"Neither one sounds like punishment to me," Lord Dargon stated, folding his arms over his chest.

Dee shrugged then replied. "No not really, but think about it this way. The future of this existence was put on my shoulders so if this existence died then I would die along with it."

"What about him?" Darnak asked, pointing at Chase.

Dee smiled at the Elder and replied. "At the time I hated him and would have killed him if Destiny would have let me. We were forced to mate and I was forced to bear the weight of this existence...All because I think differently. I can understand why they thought they needed to punish me. They needed to prevent it from happening."

The group fell silent again. Lord Rodderick shifted uncomfortable in his position beside Dee. He wanted to know more about her, but was afraid to ask her. He groaned inward at his cowardice and decided to ask the question anyway.

"Could you explain?" He asked wincing.

"Sure," she said taking a deep breath.

"There is a prophesy in my existence stating that a dark Guardian will be born and will change how this realm is controlled. Existence by existence this Guardian will change the way things are done. In doing so this Guardian will become the new Goddess of Creation.

"They say when I was born I had the mark of the Goddess upon me. I never really thought about it until now. When we came here last we were given orders to destroy a certain amount of villages and to make sure we left no one alive in those villages. Everything was going well until we got to the village of Sarka. Everyone should have heard about what happened in Sarka so I won't go into it again, but I will say this.

"I changed that day, actually, I think we all three changed that day. Our way of thinking, our way of acting, our relationships...everything changed. I started thinking about how I could changed things for the better, but it looks like I'm too late."

"For this creation you are too late, but thanks to you this existence will get a second creation." Darnak said fixing her with his stare.

"He's right," Lord Dargon agreed.

"Thanks," she said quietly.

"Out of curiosity, what rules did you break?" Lord Rodderick said, wincing yet again at his stupidity.

Chase gave the group a lopsided grin and stated. "What rules did she not break?"

"I think you might have something their Chase," Destiny said, trying her best to suppress her laughter.
Dee rolled her eyes at the two and said sarcastically, "Well if you must know then I will tell you.

"I don't follow orders, I don't listen to authority, and I don't believe the rules are right. There is a certain code of conduct when it comes to how we act when we leave our existence. We do not talk to anyone, we do not let anyone see us, we must kill anyone who does see us, we certainly do not take pity on the children because they are covered in their parents blood, and we do not become their mother.

"To be honest, if I could go back and change things, I wouldn't. I am not ashamed of what I've done and would do it again given half the chance." She said looking defiantly at the group around her.

She took a deep breath to steady herself again and looked at each Guardian questioningly. They each nodded their head as if they were answering a question that only they heard. She nodded her head in affirmation and turned her attention to the leaders before her.

"I have a proposition for you three."

Darnak looked at the Guardians and shook his head. "Our part is done."

"We will go home, spend time with our families, and we will return here in three days," Lord Rodderick said, gracefully bowing before them.

"Do you want to be here at the end?" Chase asked, staring at the three leaders.

Lord Dargon returned his gaze and stated, "Yes, we do!"

"Very well. Be here before the sun sets on the third day," Dee stated, crossing her arms over her ample chest.

The Guardians watched as the leaders disappeared back into the shadows until their presence could no longer be felt. Once the leaders were safely out of range the Guardians set about the task of preparing for the Ritual of Endings.

Dee looked at the two Guardians before her. "Destiny, I want you to create the platform and ring of stones we need because you’re the only one of us who has enough destructive force to do it. Chase, I want you to create the bonfire. I will search for a water source because we will need to be cleansed by water and fire before we begin the ritual."

With their task in mind the Guardians went their separate ways. Chase and Dee disappeared into the forest while Destiny flew to the center of the meadow that they had chosen as the ritual site.

When Destiny found a spot that called to her she raised her hands to the sky and started chanting. "I call upon the powers of the elements. Answer the call of your master and come to me."

The wind began to form a tornado around her and the ground began to tremble.

"Bend and shape, move and form, create a space to complete our plan." She said bringing her hands down in front of her.

The tornado that surrounded her shot into the ground and lifted up a circular piece big enough to serve as a platform. The trembling ground began to rumble and shake violently as stone spikes were forcing their way up. With the ring complete Destiny bowed her head and murmured a word of thanks.

As the shaking began to die down Chase took hold of the nearest tree and ripped it from the earth. Destiny must be finished, he thought to himself. He took the tree back to the meadow and tossed it up in the air. He gathered together all the chaos magic he could muster and shot it into the tree causing it to fall apart before it hit the ground. He arranged the pieces in such a way that would be perfect for what Dee had in mind. Chase looked around at his surroundings and spotted Destiny flying his way.

"Have you seen Dee?" he called out to her.

Destiny finally reached him and shook her head. "No, I haven't. The sun is setting on our second day and she hasn't come back yet."

"Yeah I know. I'm starting to get a little worried about her so I'll go look for her." He said walking in the direction he saw her wander off in.

After searching for a couple of yards he spotted what looked like fabric hanging from a tree limb. The closer he got to it the more he began to recognize that piece of fabric.

"Ah hell!" he proclaimed loudly as he took the fabric from the tree.

Why in the hell is she not wearing this, he thought to himself as he slung the piece of fabric that served as Dee's shirt over his shoulder.

He scanned the surrounding area and noticed another scrap of fabric lying on a bush. He ran to the area and picked up the rest of Dee's clothing. This can't be good, he thought with an inward groan.

Where are you? He thought, reaching out to her with his mind.

Dee felt her mate reach out for her, but decided to ignore him for a little while longer. Besides, if he wants me he'll come and find me she thought to herself as she dove under the water. She had been successful in finding water, but this wasn't just any body of water. This was the Lake of Serenity, the only place in this existence that hasn't been touched by the hands of war. She glided under water with ease using her tail to propel her forward. She was pushing her way to the surface when she felt Chase's presence.

She surfaced and looked at her mate who was holding her clothes out before him. "Oh! I see you found them."

Yes, I found them. Now put them back on,” Chase demanded.

Why?” She asked, playfully splashing water in his direction.

His eyes softened as he reached out his free hand to her. “It’s almost time and we still have a few things that need to be done before the sun sets.”

She sighed deeply and made her way over to him. “I understand. I’ll call Destiny here.”

She closed her eyes and opened up her mind. She reached out to Destiny and sent out one word, come. Once she knew that Destiny was on her way Dee opened her eyes and looked at her mate.

On!” Chase demanded once again as he held her clothes out to her.

Fine,” she pouted and snatched her clothes out of his hand.

She was fully clothed by the time Destiny arrived at the lake.

Destiny flew up to Dee and was barely able to hide her excitement when she saw what was behind her. “What’s uh…Oh! Wow! Is this what I think it is?”

Yes, this is Serenity.” Dee said, smiling at her friend’s excitement.

Wasn’t this the original starting place of this existence?” Chase asked, walking up beside her.

She turned to face the lake once again and stated, “Yes, that is why I chose this particular body of water.”

Did you find it or did it find you?” Destiny asked, hovering in front of Dee.

A little of both actually,” Dee said, finally tearing her eyes away from the reflective surface of the water.

Destiny then shifted her attention to Chase. “What about you? Did you find it the same way?”

Actually, I had a trail to follow,” Chase replied grinning slightly.

Ah.” Destiny said knowingly. “ I see you made her put her clothes on again.” She added.

Dee glared at the two before her, but she softens her gaze. “ We don’t have time for this. I’ll go back and start the fire for the second half of the cleansing process. When you two have finished here return to the site.”

Dee waited until both Guardians completely submerged themselves in the lake before she decided to leave. She retraced her steps back to the meadow as the sun began it’s decent. It’s almost time, she thought to herself as she quickened her pace. Dee stepped out onto the meadow and looked up at the setting sun. At the same time Chase also looked up at the dying light of the day and decided it was time to head back as well. Destiny and Chase emerged from the forest at the same time as the three leaders, and they were all amazed at what they saw. Dee was standing in the middle of the bonfire with her wings out stretched. Her clothes had been removed once again, not that it mattered because the flames could not touch her. They watched as the flames caressed her body as it tried to devour her. Dee opened her eyes when she could feel her mate was getting uncomfortable at everyone staring at her. She quickly jumped out of the fire and hid behind him as she put her clothes on. She really didn’t want to put them back on, but this action seemed to calm him down a bit.

Once you two have completed the cleansing ceremony we will begin the Ritual of Endings,” she said stepping out from behind Chase.

She watched in fascination as her mate took control of the flame as soon as he stepped into the bonfire. Chase pulled the flame close to his body and allowed it to mix with the swirling chaos that served as his aura. When he relaxed his body the swirling mass when back to being a simple bonfire.

He stepped out of the fire and looked at Destiny. “Your turn.”
